Imerys Group is active in more than 47 countries, in all continents, with about 16,000 employees worldwide. In Pará, it has been operating since 1996 as Rio Capim Caulim (RCC). In 2010, Imerys acquired Pará Pigmentos S.A. (PPSA), part of the VALE Group.

Investments in technology, the generation of safer and more efficient processes, and constant production growth are key factors for Imerys’ growth in the state of Pará, which is today the largest in kaolin beneficiation in the world, being able to produce more than 2 million tons per year.

Kaolin is extracted in Ipixuna do Pará. At the RCC mine, the raw mineral is transferred in a 158 kilometer mineral duct to Barcarena, where it is beneficiated, going through several processes aimed at elevating its degree of purity and whiteness.

At the PPSA mine the mineral is transferred to Barcarena only after it is beneficiated, through a 180 km long mineral duct.

The company has its own port, with two embarkation platforms, ensuring customers are served at the best possible way.

Imerys is one of the state’s largest employers and services buyers, as well as being one of the 10 largest companies in Pará and one of the 10 largest mineral exporters in Brazil.
